It was a very beautiful walking day. Sun shining, and not too windy, but still kinda cool. John, who lives in Hendersonville, was at the hotel to pick me and my cart up this morning. He dropped me off where Terry picked me up yesterday, and I was off! There were lots of small streams and creeks with almost no cars, so I actuality had my iPod off for most of the day. The hills towered over head, and just listening to the water and birds was so nice. A great change from all the traffic I usually have to deal with. There were nice farm houses, with cattle, horses and the cutest baby donkey ever.
While summiting the mountain there was a point where there were a bunch of really loooong switch backs that were just driving me crazy, and for the last one, I decided that i would just climb through the forest until I popped up by the highway. It was faster, but for a moment I thought I wouldn't be able to reach the road because of too much brush, until I noticed a bunch of garbage a little further up. So I went up to it and at the top there was a really old, broken down trailer and a driveway that lead down to the highway, and it dropped me off right at the top of the pass! And the state line! Perfect.
The way down was much rougher. It's so hard on my shins, and there were a lot more dogs out on that side of the mountain, and and all the nice houses and farms were replaced by trash and trailers. I got to my pick up point only 15 minutes late, and John was there waiting. He took me to Hope's office where I met, Hope, and Terry with his two daughters, they were taking me back to their house to tonight.
There I me this wife, Rachel, and we ate burritos for diner, and relaxed the rest of the night and drank tea and ate a cookie and snuggled with the cat. It was great.
