Well the day started out well enough. It was nearly 70 degrees out and the first 10 miles or so had a wonderful shoulder to walk on and no rain. However, as soon as I saw my shoulder end, it started to rain.... great.
The other few miles I got in were awful. Zero shoulder, rain and cars do not mix. I rolled my foot, again, and decided I had had enough. So I found a fireworks shop and stopped there to sit and wait for my ride to come get me. Which wasn't for another 1 1/2 hours. So I sat and read my book that Janet from Johnson City gave me and hid from the rain as much as I could. (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry) --- for Grandma. :)
A man showed up and was the owner of the store, he let me in and gave me a Dr. Pepper, and we talked about plants and the bears that lived by his house all summer. His name is Neil, a cancer survivor himself, and a really nice guy. He gave Hubert, my host for Greenville, two Chinese Lanterns to give to his girls before we set off.
Hubert came and picked me up and took me to the Starbucks near his house where I met up with channel 7 and did a quick interview. Then we headed to the house where I met his wife, Lee, and two daughters. They all had plans for the evening so I stayed home and worked on some work and packed for my two week break! So excited to see my boyfriend and just take a break, and relax a little before my last month.......
****Today will be my last blog for the next week or so. I will update again once I get to Atlanta to stay with my brother and his wife for New Years.******
