Oh my goodness, what a wet, cold, nasty, nasty day. Only 15 miles, thank goodness. Picked up my x-rays from the doctor and took them to the post office to send home. Then Tanya took me to my drop off point and I started walkin'.
It rained so much, that my waterproof shoes got some water in them, and just as I was finding a place to sit and try and figure out what I was going to do about having wet socks, the ambulance that shuttled my cart this morning pulled up to see if I was okay. Perfect timing! They forgot to drop off the canopy to the cart, so we all went back to Barbourville together so I could get some fresh socks and my other pair of shoes. The guys were so nice, they bought a pair of socks for me, and were more than willing to take me anywhere I needed to go. Once they dropped me back off, I had about 3 hours left of walking. I got in around 3, and hung out at the EMS station until one of the trucks got back, and they took me across the street to the Best Western, where they were kind enough to put me up for the night, and then the folks at the Best Western gave me an upgrade so I got a Jacuzzi tub in my room! Thank you KCEMS and Best Western!!! You guys made my crappy day, much, much better.
The crew was suppose to take me out to dinner, but with this terrible weather, they were super busy all night, so I went to KFC nest door and ate dinner, and then sat in the hot tub forever... It was awesome, and much needed.
