I started at 6 in the morning and it was actually kinda cold out, but that didn't last long, by 6:30 I started to sweat. I knew I had a canyon to walk up today, but I didn't really think about how tired my legs would be after walking up and over a pass yesterday and walking 26.2 miles... I stopped a lot to take in the views that reminded me a lot of the high deserts in Arizona. I saw the funniest looking bird, a long-billed curlew (click the link) as well as some antelope. I got stopped by two people asking me if I was alright and if I wanted a ride which I took wasn't really that much considering it was suppose to be close to 95 out today.
Once I got out of the canyon there was another "hill" I had to go over and by that point, my legs were getting pretty tired and my Achilles was starting to hurt, not good. I only had 3 miles left, and Chuck and Debbie were at Three Forks by the time I got there. I figured with it hurting as badly as it did, I probably would not be walking tomorrow. Which was fine, because that meant I would just start my break a day earlier.
That night we had spaghetti for dinner and a reporter for the local paper stopped by to do an interview, as well as some of Chuck and Debbie's friends. I stayed up for awhile trying to work out my route from Billings, MT to Rapid City, SD which is going to be a very long and lonely stretch of NOTHING. Not too excited.
