Today was such a good day!
I walked across the entire state of Washington in just over a month. My shin was hurting pretty bad, so it was short day of only 14, very slow, miles. But that's okay! Because I completed my personal first big goal of walking through Washington, now my next big goal is getting through Montana.
Melinda made some awesome pancakes and strawberries for breakfast and drove me back up to the spot where she picked me up before.
I started the day in Spokane Valley, and ended in Post Falls. It was a nice walk that started in some orchards and continued on to the Centennial Trail for most of the day. The state line was literally a white line on the trail, and a large rock with the plaque in the picture above. I was so excited when I got there! I saw 3 women coming up on their bikes and made them stop so they could take a picture of me.
One of the women asked me why in the world I was so excited about the state line and I told her I just got done walking across Washington, and I was very happy to happy some people to share my moment with. They were all very excited for me, and wanted to take pictures with me too. It totally made my day.
The rest of my day was pretty non eventful. But the weather was good and I had nice views of the river and it was nice and quite for the most part.
It ended at the bank where my next host, Patty was going to come and pick me up. Luckily, Melinda was kind enough to drop of my cart at Patty's house for me so I didn't have to push her for yet another day. Melinda also found some Washington pins and a nice post card for me! It is always so hard to say goodbye to my new families, and I hardly doubt it will get any easier. Patty is the sister of the wife and her husband that I meet at a Full Moon party for Beads of Courage a few months back who said they had family in the Post Falls area and I am so glad I meet them because and Patty and Ken are just wonderful!
Patty made a huge dinner, and I stays up for awhile telling stories, icing my leg, loving their dog and meeting some of her family that live close by before we all finally crashed around 8:30.
