Once I was back at the top, I continued on a pretty level road all the way to Coulee City. Apparently seeing a girl pushing a funny looking cart out in the middle of farm country looks totally strange and out of the ordinary, so I got stopped a lot. "Are you okay?" "What are you doing?" "Do you need food? Water?" "Can I take your picture?". I probably spent an hour total talking with people on the side of road. I also met a guy biking across America. Drew was almost done, heading to Weantchee that night and then over the mountains.
Not a whole lot happened other than talking with folks. When I got into Coulee City, I still didn't hear back from someone I thought might have a bed for me, so I took some advice from FB friends, and stopped at the City Park and camped right on the water with all the geese and waste they leave behind... There were baby geese everywhere!!! Mckenna, if your Mommy is reading this, you would have loved it!!!!!
I was really, really tired so I didn't even bother putting on the rain fly, I slept under the clear sky watching the stars come out to the sound of geese calling to their young, as well as all the other songs the birds were singing in the area. My own personal sound machine.
