What a day! I hit 1,900 miles (100 miles to half way!) and I had tons of people stop to talk to me since they saw me on the news over the weekend. Interview <--- click! 23 miles in 9 and half hours... I got stopped a lot! Beautiful, perfect weather, with a high of 72, partly cloudy and a little windy.
So besides plenty of people stopping to say hi and give donations, I was stopped by a group of people in front of a school in Magnolia. They all work at Southwestern Youth Services, a school for boys who need some guidance in life. They asked me to speak to the boys and tell my story. How could I say no?
They invited me in and I setup in the cafeteria where they brought in the 20 boys that are currently there. I just loved it, what great opportunity to try and inspire people who need a little inspiration in their lives. I told them all about my walk, the good and bad days that I have. I told them that, no matter what, I can never just give up, even when mountains stand in my way, literally. I told them, my only option is to just "keep walkin'" because I'm walking for kids with cancer and they can never give up their fight, they are in it for the long run and so am I. I told them that no matter how crazy their dreams are, they are possible if you work hard enough for them. I talked about all my international travels; how I have been to 35 countries on 6 continents and I worked my ass to get myself there. I was NEVER given any of those trips, I worked hard to make them a reality and NO ONE can EVER take way the memories from those adventures, or the lessons I learned a long the way. Never give up, YOU are the only one stopping yourself from achieving great things.

I hope to have more opportunities for events like this, it totally made my day. The kids seemed pretty open to me, most of they anyway. They asked a lot of questions, and I was there for a hour...
I also had two newspaper interviews before the day was done. Nancy and her sister came at 5 to pick me up and take me to the hotel I will staying at tonight since she doesn't have any room in her house at moment with family in town. She was super nice, too bad I won't really get to get to know her better, but I greatly appreciate her helping me out!!! I spent the rest of the evening eating, sitting in the spa, and writing this blog. Great day.
