Today was 21 miles in nothing but rain and cold. It could have worse though, the rain was coming from behind me, so nothing in the face. A few people stopped and gave donations, it made me laugh though, felt like is was more out of pity than for what I am walking for. But I'll take it!!!
<---- Since it rained all day, obviously this wasn't taken today, but I needed a picture so I used one from two days ago instead. :)
The highlight of the day was when I got stopped by a family with a daughter in the BOC program. I asked if she was with them, and they said yes, so I got VERY EXCITED, and told them to pull over so I could give her a bead!!!!!!!!! They did, and I jumped in their car and got to meet their beautiful little girl (maybe 3 or 4?) and give her a bead. She loved it, I think. SO cute though, what a doll. Made my entire dismal day totally worth it. The rain stopped around 3, and I walked into Albert Lea with lots of honks and waves.
A woman running a Indian taco stand stopped me and gave me a taco! If you've never had one; it's Indian fry bread with taco meat, and cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, ranch... so good. I got to Comfort Inn and Suites around 4:30 and before I could get inside, a group of teenage girls jumped out of a car and said they were doing a scavenger hunt and wanted to take a picture with me, since I was "a stranger" and they saw me in the paper. I also gave them a card, which counted as another "check" off their list and offered to help them with some more. They had swimming pool on their list, so I said the hotel would have one, they came in with me, and I saw the woman behind the counter had a name tag, which was another "check", so they took a picture of it and took off, thanking me as they left. I LOVED doing scavenger hunts when I was younger, so was more than happy to help.
As I checked in, I found a gift card waiting for me for the restaurant next store, and my room! Which was amazing! HUGE, with a whirlpool Jacuzzi tub in the room itself. As well as a wet bar, popcorn, and a note form the manager and a bag of goodies!!! Thank you so much!!!
I went over to Green Mill restaurant and thanked the manager, and gorged in delicious food. Maybe too much so...Feel a little sick... But that's okay. :)
